HUNT.

a place where you can find everything you need to hunt in Australia from a keen hunters personal experiences.

Keeping it simple.

Backpack

  • A 30-40L backpack is the ideal size for quick morning hunts, this is all I’ve used for the past 20 years.

    Key requirements for your pack;

    • Back Support

    • Rifle Holder

    • Hip strap

  • The 30-40L bacpack will hold all meat from a large Sambar if deboned in field (Back Legs, Backstraps, Eye Fillet). Either carry trophy or strap to outside of bag.

    I have done many packouts with this size bag you do not need 80L+ bags, it becomes heavy if scouting or on unsuccessful hunts.

    Having a rifle holder on the pack too will help free your hands so you can trek out safely.

Clothing

  • The key requirements for with camo is;

    • Light weight material

    • Long Sleeve to cover all under garments

    • Breathable

  • From my experience I’ve found hunting in Australia if you pick your days its hot on every hunt. And yes pick your days in winter too, don’t bust your ass on a rainy day its not worth it. Pack light, wear light clothing because its hard work on those hills.

    If its cold just have your light camo on top of your thermals, hoodie, flanny etc. You can always strip down to your lightweight camo long sleeve.

Veils

  • Face Veils are ideal to conceal the contour or skin tone of your face when up close and personal with a Sambar.

    • Breathable to prevent condensation

    • Comfortable so can be worn for long periods

    • Practical - can be taken on and off easily

      This veil recommendation is a game-changer! It comes with a smaller strap at the bottom that goes around your neck, giving you the flexibility to undo the top part and let it hang down.

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.

Sling Hook

  • Money well spent is all I can say.

    Nothing worse then when you’re climbing up a a steep hill and your rifle keeps sliding off your shoulder.

    Problem solved! I wouldn’t hunt without one.

Gun Sling

  • The sling, the one thing to not be tight on because if this breaks goodbye expensive scope and good luck trying to hit something with a bung scope.

    Key things;

    • Well known brands

    • Good quality material

    • High quality steel swivels not shitty aluminum

  • Personally I run Butler Creek, have been for 10 years the same sling. I haven’t had any issues with this brand great quality, not too pricey and looks good.

Boots

  • I ran work boots for way too long. Don’t do the same.

    There are affordable boots out there when all you need is;

    • Lightish weight (Lighter than a steel cap isn’t hard)

    • Waterproof

    • Heavy duty tread

  • Don’t do what I did for many years and wear your steel cap work boots.

    Once I went to hiking boots I never looked back. Being waterproof is the main requirement, sometimes the long grass or serrated tussocks can be very wet and thelast thing you want is wet boots. Also crossing a creek to save time or to stalk to a certain location with waterproof boots its no worries.
